What is the Story of the Chintamani Saraswati Mantra?
Saraswati Chintamani Mantra is a divine hymn dedicated to the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom. ॐ ह्रीं ॐ is the shortest and most powerful mantra. Om Hrim Om, Om Hrim Om is the translation of the Sanskrit language of the mantra. ॐ ह्रीं ॐ Saraswati Chintamani Mantra is not an ordinary hymn. Om is the sound of Brahman, the Universe, and Atma, the soul.
Om Hrim is Lord Shiva, who pours spirit on a human body and awakens him from a deep sleep when he is born. The Lord of Death takes away the spirit when a human dies. Without the soul, ॐ ह्रीं the human body is just a pile of mud.

What is the Epic Legend of Saraswati Chintamani Mantra?
The powerful Chintamani Mantra has a famous legend that narrates the story of a poet, Shriharsha. He is the writer of an epic in Sanskrit, the Naishedha.
Shriheera, the father of Shriharsh, was the priest of King Vijaya Chandra and Jaya Chandra of Kannauj. He was the chief royal pujari of the Kammauj Kingdom.
Shriheera was respected and honored for his knowledge and wisdom. Shriharsh, a son of the priest, had no intelligence in his studies. Shriheera was worried about his son’s future; thus, he took him to a proficient saint, Sri Chintamani Swami.
The royal chief priest left his son at the ashram of the saint, He asked his son to serve Sri Chantamin Swami.
Why Did Sri Chintamani Swami Write Chintamani Mantra on Shriharsh’s Tongh?
Shriharsh was a good boy and served the saint with great care and diligence. Sri Chintamani Swami was happy with the boy.
He decided the time had come to bless him for his selfless service and devotion.
Swami Chintamani asked the boy to show his tongue. Shriharsh innocently did everything that the saint asked.
The saint wrote the Saraswati Chintamani Mantra on his tongue with his pious hand and awakened the intellect and memory of the boy.
Why is Goddess Saraswati Linked with the Chintamani Beeja Mantra?
In Hinduism, it is believed that Goddess Saraswati remains on the tongue of every human once a day. Whatever a human says, whether a lie or a truth, comes true once a day.
Santan Dharma suggests Hindus always speak the truth. It also encourages people to follow the path of Dharma, righteousness, like Yudhishthir, the first Pandava of the Mahabharata.
According to the ancient Vedas, epics, and texts, humans can germinate a seed (beeja) through our words. In the modern world, we call it “manifestation.”

Why Did Shriheera Give Up His Life?
Once, the royal court of Kannauj organized a scriptural debate. The King had invited the scholars. Shriheera also participated. However, during the talks, Shriheera found himself helpless due to his inability to answer the questions of the other scholars.
He was defeated in the scriptural debate in the royal court of Kannauj. Shriheera felt ashamed. He decided to give up his mortal body.
However, at the time of his death, he requested that his son give peace to his soul to defeat the scholars who ridiculed him deceitfully at the royal court.
Shriheera said, “O Son! You are a lovely boy of mine. I want you to bring peace to my distressed soul by defeating the deceitful scholars who forced me to come to this point.”
Shriharsh promised his father to obey the command and increase his knowledge and wisdom in the scriptures.
Why Did Shriharsh Find His Knowledge Unworthy?
After the event of Shriheera, Shriharsh found himself complex and requested his Guru, Sri Chintamani Swami, for a path to follow.
Sri Chintamani Swami suggested that he perform a yagna, an anushthana of the Saraswati Chintamani Mantra, for a year.
Shriharsh did the anushthana and attained knowledge, even the highest scholars of Hindu scriptures did not understand his knowledge and learning.
Why Did Shriharsh Request Goddess Chintamani Saraswati to Reduce His Knowledge?
When Shriharsh found that no one, not even the greatest scholars of Kannauj, understood his scholarly debate, he worshiped the goddess again.
Goddess Chintamani Saraswati appeared before him and asked, “Dear, why did you call me? Anything special you want this time?”
Shriharsh said, “O Ma Saraswati, the boon of knowledge and wisdom you granted is defective. No scholar can understand my scriptural debate.”
Mother Saraswati told Shriharsh, “Dear son! Take a towel, wet it, and put it on your head, then drink buttermilk. It would ease the language of your wisdom. The scholars would understand your knowledge and intellect.”
Shriharsh followed all the directions and reaped the benefit of the boon of Goddess Chintamani Saraswati.
How Did Shriharsh Defeat the Scholars?
After attaining the blessings of Mother Saraswati and the Chintamani Mantra, Shriharsh arranged a scholarly debate.
He defeated all the scholars with his wisdom and knowledge of the scriptures and made his father proud. Shriheera, the boy’s father, was happy and blessed him from heaven.
Which Sanskrit Scripture Book Did Shriharsh Write?
Shriharsh became a reverse scholar with time and wrote a Sanskrit scripture book, “Khandannakhandakhdya.”
